About Me

My photo
Clayton here. Here is a little about me. My favorite color is orange. I wish everything in my life was orange. Including my car and phone. (R.I.P.) I love text messaging and don't really like talking on the phone. My favorite drink in the entire world is Dr. Pepper. I'm pretty sure God gave it to the world because he loves us. (Add a little coconut rum, it makes it even better. If that's even possible.) I work in Human Resources at a hotel in downtown SLC. I'm addicted to reality TV. Especially Survivor, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. I love Mr. Potato Head, as you can probably tell. What else... Oh yeah I'm gay and have an AMAZING husband, Paul. ILY!!

Arkansas or Bust!!

Today Kylie goes to Arkansas!! She got to call early in the morning before her flight at 6:30. So my phone rang about 5:45, and by rang I mean buzzed. It was so good to hear her cheerful voice as she recounted the mornings events. Apparently she and her companion didn't hear their alarm clocks so they slept way longer than they should have. The office over-head paged their building and a couple of sisters from another room heard the page and barged into their room to wake them up. She had time to pull her hair back into a ponytail and get dressed before they were on the bus headed for the airport. Once she arrived at the airport and checked her bags she made her way to the bathroom to blowdry her hair and put her face on. She said she feels gross and can't wait to get to Arkansas and get a chance to take a shower. I was of coarse laughing the whole time and tried to tell me it wasn't funny. We talk for about 11 minutes or something until she felt like she needed to go to be ready to get on the plane. I wished her well and we hung up. She just called me again a minute ago. They have landed in Atlanta and have a two hour lay over before departing for Arkansas. She said she doesn't get to get into her checked luggage until tomorrow which means she probably won't get to meet her new companion until tomorrow. She traveled with 4 elders from her district and another few from another district. But she is the only sister that is headed to Little Rock right now. Her companion from the MTC is headed to Indiana with the other half of the elders from their district. I'm so proud of her for being brave enough to serve a mission. I love her so much and miss her so much. I can't wait for Christmas now so I can talk to her again. I have the address to the mission office and I'll post it soon. She loves letters so feel free to write!!

It's heartbreaking, isn't it. Sometimes we over-glamorize missionary service and forget the sense of loss that can come from separation. But I'm sure there will be many blessings in your life because of her service. Wish her luck from me the next time you write.

Hey, um, um, hi.

Linked to your blog from Kathy's. Hope it's okay ...

You're welcome to check mine out.

I'm so glad to hear you're doing so well, that you've found someone who loves you and that you love, that your family has embraced him as a part of your life, that you have a good job doing something you care about.

Really, I'm so glad.

I got married. Wanted to invite you, meant to drop an invitation by your parents' house, but I had a nightmare that they yelled at me, so I didn't. I wish I had. It would have been lovely to see you and meet Paul.

If you guys make it out to Boston, Sam and I would love to see you.

Best,

Dej
