About Me

My photo
Clayton here. Here is a little about me. My favorite color is orange. I wish everything in my life was orange. Including my car and phone. (R.I.P.) I love text messaging and don't really like talking on the phone. My favorite drink in the entire world is Dr. Pepper. I'm pretty sure God gave it to the world because he loves us. (Add a little coconut rum, it makes it even better. If that's even possible.) I work in Human Resources at a hotel in downtown SLC. I'm addicted to reality TV. Especially Survivor, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. I love Mr. Potato Head, as you can probably tell. What else... Oh yeah I'm gay and have an AMAZING husband, Paul. ILY!!

What's all that white stuff?

So I'm confused... It is March 31 isn't it? And we did just have some hot days, didn't we? So what's up with all this crappy snow? I had no idea that it had snowed last night. I was rushing around trying to hurry and get ready this morning so that Paul could get into the bathroom and get ready. Mondays are bad for us because we both have to be to work by 8 but he always sleeps longer than I do. Its something we have to work on. So I opened the front door, realizing that I was already a little late, and stood there frozen in unbelief for a few moments before calling back in to Paul to look outside. I had to go back to the bedroom and find my gloves. Ten minutes later after I finished brushing all the white crap off my car I began my drive to Orem. I pulled out of my parking stall at 7:22. It then took another 11 minutes for me to get to the freeway. Then I got stuck behind this kid who was going like 20 in the middle lane of the freeway. (Kudos to him for being cautious, but scoot over and drive in the slow lane if you're not comfortable driving in the snow.) So I finally got around him and made it to the point of the mountain just in time for the snow plows to pull on and hold up traffic. I guess some might argue the fact that following the snow plows is better than having to drive on unplowed roads, but I'm not sure I agree. They finally pulled off at Thanksgiving Point and I proceeded to brave the ice covered roads. As I made my way around the bend in Lindon I started counting cars that were on the side of the road, 10. And all I have to say to those people is, "Learn how to drive in the snow or stay home!" So I got to work at 8:25 today. Yeah, that's right, it took me an hour to get to work today. I really hate the snow.

Happy but not thrilled

So don't worry that I totally forgot American Idol was on last night. I had to work my MOD shift so my day was all mixed up. Luckily for me the DVR did it's job and recorded it for me. When I got home I sat down with Paul and we watched America's Next Top Model. (sidebar, love claire, hate fatima) That is what I was the most excited about. It kind of got me through my super boring shift. After Claire was in the bottom two but dodged elimination, and I was relieved, Paul suggested we watch Idol. So we turned it on and they opened with their usual group number. (sidebar, i'm over the group musical numbers) Then they started sorting out the safes for the bottom three. Chikeze went very first into the bottom followed by Syeshia and Jason Castro. So of coarse I was pissed that Amazing Grace didn't even make the bottom three. Are you kidding me? I couldn't even listen to her performance the night before. That's why I love DVR so I can fast forward through the crap. And by crap I mean commercials, Amazing Grace and Chikeze. Luckily America was smart enough to save Syeshia and Jason and Sent Chikeze packing. I'm happy about that but I would have been thrilled to see Amazing Grace go home. Next week is country week so she'll probably stick around again. DAMN!!

My back still hurts

So for anyone who doesn't know me I have serious back trouble. It all started when I got hit by a bus while I was in Mexico in July 2003. (Contact me if you don't know the whole story. Its a pretty good one that I love to tell.) Now my back doesn't hurt everyday but it hurts more often than it doesn't. I try to keep to myself about when and how much it is hurting but sometimes I just can't. So practically everyone that I know has been telling me that I should go to a dr and get it checked out. So I finally did. I explained that I was hit by a bus in Mexico and that it has been giving me trouble ever since. So he sends me to get an x-ray. (Yeah, been there done that the night of the accident. Can you be a little more creative please.) So I play along with his silly little game and come to find out my x-rays are pretty much perfect. (Yeah I knew that already.) The only "abnormality" is that my spine is straight where most people have a slight curvature. But that is not really relevant at all. So the dr diagnoses me with a "cronic back sprain" (4 and half years of cronic back sprain, really?) and refers me to a physical therapist so I can learn some exercises. (I don't need no damn exercises!) My mom, having just been through her own saga of back pain, thinks I should call him back and ask if an MRI might be beneficial. I guess that will be the next step. In the meantime my back still hurts and I'm pretty sick of it.

I've had a hard day.

I do realize that its only noon but I've already had a hard day. I started feeling not so great last night and decided it was the start of a cold so I took some NyQuil and called it a day. Then this morning I wake up totally congested and feeling crap-tastic. I'm not sure I slept quite long enough for the full affect of the NyQuil to wear off... So my drive this morning was a little rough. Praise Allah for the Hairspray soundtrack. I stuck that sucker in and sang along as much as my extra manly, extra deep voice could. The world should feel lucky that I was confined to a small space and no one could hear me. It wasn't pretty, but I managed to stay awake. (Just barely) So now here I am at work, with so much to do. (from now on italics indicate sarcasm). And I really don't want to be here. I really just want to be curled up in a ball in my bed with no one bugging me. And whats up with people clocking in right next to my desk and not even acknowledging that fact that I'm here until you need me to do some of your work. I'm sure the person I am talking about doesn't read this but I still have to say it, "What is your problem, Bitch?!?" And to top it all of none of our housekeepers have room keys due to some lack of communication so I was enlisted to help run around opening doors for the girls to go in and clean. I'm tired and cranky and just want to go home. I hate not having sick days and working hourly.

Couch!!

Paul and I bought a new couch!! We are really excited to get rid of his old loveseat and the stupid slip cover. COMFORTABLE SEATING, HERE WE COME!! The only sad part is that my love sack might have to be relocated to my parents house. We are going to try and fit them both in the front room. Everyone cross your fingers!

It was inevitable

Survivor was on a special night this week due to college basketball. Whatever!! At least it still aired so I shouldn't complain. Last night we said so long to Tracey who was voted off "Ozzy's" tribe. She has been the instigator of trying to blind side Ozzy. But what she didn't realize is that if you f*** with the top dog, it'll come back to bite you. And it finally did. We also said good riddins to Kathy, originally one of the fans, who decided to quit the game after she realized that a rain storm lasts more than five minutes. She had an emotional breakdown and Jeff Probst came and took her out of the game. She was muttering something about not being able to feel her family. (ok crazy)

America, Are you kidding me?

Poor Amanda Overmeyer was voted out last night on American Idol. She is definitely the most unique contestant this season. Her southern blues/rock sound set her apart from the pack but didn't win over America. And the worst part is that Amazing Grace is still here. She needs to go. She has been expecting it for weeks now. America stop putting the girl through the agony of being in the bottom two everyweek and just let her go. Please end the misery and vote her off next week.

Jinxing can be DANGEROUS!!

So Paul likes to play the jinxing game. His rules are that if you saying something at the same time as someone else then the first person to say "Jinx" wins. The other person then loses the ability to speak until they hear a word that the jinxing person determines. He always beats me to the "Jinx" so I'm often stuck waiting to hear whatever word he decides to say to free me. Well last night I finally beat him to the punch... I won the Jinx. I told him the word that would free him would be "Hi," knowing that Kylie was on her way over I knew it would only be a few minutes before I greeted my sister with, "Hi!" Well right before Kylie arrived at the house Paul went to change out of his pajamas and to use the rest room. Kylie arrived and Paul returned later. In the meantime I totally had forgotten about the Jinx. Paul enters the room waves at my sister who is sitting 3 feet away from him and returns to his knitting. Then he gets up and starts washing the dishes. The whole time I'm thinking, "What is his deal?" He finishes washing the dishes and then heads to the bedroom. (He decided from now on he would go to bed at 10:00 pm no matter what.) He stops and waves a good night to both me and my sister. I give him a look like, what the hell, and he just shrugs his shoulders and closes the door. It suddenly all comes rushing back to me. HE'S JINXED!! I bust out laughing and now Kylie thinks I'm totally crazy. I explained that I had jinxed him before she got there and I had forgotten all about it. I call him back out from the bedroom and unjinx him with, "Hi NiƱo." Then he officially says goodnight and heads to bed.

It's about DAMN time!!

Finally last night on Survivor Chet was voted off. He was practically dead already but when his tribe lost the reward challenge and the other tribe sent him to exile island it really did him in. He just laid on the beach like he was waiting for a vulture to come down and finish him off. (Kylie, Karri and I were all hoping that would actually happen.) Since it didn't, damn, and his tribe lost the immunity challenge too he asked his tribe to please vote him off because of a serious injury on his foot. (I'm pretty sure that by serious injury he was referring to a mosquito bite.) Anyway, finally his tribe came to their senses and cut him loose. Only after debating on whether they should team up against Ozzy instead. I thought these people were supposed to be some of Survivors biggest fans, and they want to vote off the one person on their tribe that could actually help them win a challenge. They are idoits!!

Amazing Grace has got to go!!

For all of you who have not been following American Idol this season I need to inform you of something horrible. There is a contestant this year named Kristy Lee Cook. In her initial audition she sang the song Amazing Grace and did a very nice job. Good enough to get her through to Hollywood. During Hollywood week she struggled. Lucky for her they reformated Hollywood week and gave everyone a second chance. She bombed her first round, barely made it through the second round and in order to save herself in the last round sang Amazing Grace, AGAIN!! (Thus earning herself the name of Amazing Grace. Only by me of coarse.) And the judges were dumb enough to put her into the top 24, against my wishes. And some how she managed to not suck enough to be eliminated before making it into the top 12. So Tuesday night the top 12 sang songs from the Lenon/McCarthey song book and Amazing Grace turned "8 Days A Week" into a country song. Now don't get me wrong, I like country music as much as the next guy, but holy shit it was bad. Last night she landed as far down as the bottom two against David Hernandez, who I think is totally cute and Paul strongly disagrees. And poor, ex-stripper David got sent packing. I was furious. Now we have to put up with her another week. Amazing Grace has got to go!! Holli, add her to your list.

How much do I HATE Comcast...

So back in November when I moved in with my sweetie is when all my problems started. At first they continued to send my statement to my old address. Even after they sent out a technician to set everything up and I notified them that I was moving. So because I wasn't receiving a statement I got behind on my payments. So I finally logged on to their website and made a payment of $75.00 because that was the promotional rate I signed up with in July. Well the next day they turned our cable off. Needless to say, I was pissed. Wait until after I make a payment to shut it off, that doesn't really make any sense. So I called their "screw you over" help line. And the guy who answered was a total asshole. He started by insisting that it was impossible to have signed up for a $75.00 price and that the price per month was $115.00 and I was currently behind $300.00 on payments. It wasn't until I insisted he check the history of my account that he discovered that I had infact signed up with a promotional rate. (I told you so!) He then proceded to inform me that when I moved I lost the promotional rate. A fact that no one decided to inform me of prior to making the move. So in order to get the cable turned back on I had to either make a payment to bring my account current or start on a payment plan that would spread the over due balance out over 4 months. Obviously I opted to spread it out because who has $300.00 just laying around. So I make a payment of like $184.00 and the cable is turned back on. Then the box started giving us trouble. It wouldn't record the shows we scheduled it to. Then the DVR option just became unusable. So I put another call into the "screw you over" help line. The girl that answered this time informed me that my account is still past due and that I should probably make a payment, even though I am set up on a payment plan and my next payment isn't due yet. Then she told me that she would send a stronger signal to try and "reset" the box. So that worked for like, a day. When I returned a call to their "not so helpful" line they offered to resend a signal again. I told them that someone should probably come out and look at the box. So she set up an appointment. Before the time of the appoinment they turned our service off again for non payment. This time Paul called and used his tax return to bring the balance to current. Apparently the guy I talked to the first time hadn't set up our payment plan. (Thanks alot asshole.) So the technician shows up about an hour late for the appoinment, and with a buddy who just needed to log some extra hours on his time card. (And then the buddy proceded to tell me how hot the girls in the complex are after I told him I live with my boyfriend. This guy was a "winner".) So they informed me that the box we were given was designed for HD tvs. Well anyone who knows me knows that there is nothing HD about my tv. So they installed a "new" regular DVR box and left. Well since then everyday day our DVR box just turns off. And not just off like you hit the power button and now the red light is on indicating that it's off, I'm talking OFF like no power to the box at all. Now its plugged into a power strip along with the TV and DVD player and they always work just fine so its obivously a problem with the box. So we decide that enough is enough. Obivously comcast sucks and thats never going to change. So we look into DirectTV. We even signed up for the whole package. When the technician came last Saturday he informed me that our patio faces the wrong direction for a satellite and we can't get permission from our leasing office to set a tripod on the grass so we get screwed and have to settle back with comcast. So Paul takes it upon himself to call comcast again and they lady he talked to sent out a strong signal to reset the box.... Yeah whatever. It didn't work either. (No surprise of coarse) So then he scheduled an appoinment. That brings us to today. The technician shows up and informs Paul that we were given one of the old defective boxes that they are getting rid of. So they installed a new box and hopefully it will work better now. He then called comcast to find out about being credited for all the hassel we've had and they said they will credit us $15.00. THAT"S IT!! I really HATE comcast.

Two things...

I just found out that there is another person out there that is using the title of Clayton's Corner as his blog name. Now sure his did start first but home slice hasn't posted on it in 3 years. I think I will write a letter to the powes that be at blogspot and ask them to pull the plug on a blog that is dead. Besides, he's using an address that I could use. He's not as cool as me though. His last name is Clayton and that's not original at all. You can check him out if you want. He's boring. www.claytoncorner.blogspot.com

Second thing, I just found out also that Clayton's Corner is a city in New Jersey. I googled clayton's corner to see what it would bring up and besides the dead blog it brought up mapquest directions for Clayton's Corner, New Jersey. I would have never guessed Clayton's Corner would be an actual place.

Oh Danny Boy! You will be missed.

Last night on American Idol Danny Noriega was voted off by America. Danny received a lot of back lash for being perceived as openly gay. The sad thing is that no one would consider the fact that his vocals were actually good too. His performance this week was one of my favorites. He performed "Tainted Love" full of head bobbing and ass shaking. It was so entertaining. Danny, where ever you are, you've got one fan right here.

So long Joel! The muscle gets booted.

Last night on Survivor Joel became the 5th person eliminated from Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites. In his closing remarks he complained that the tribe chose to keep the weakest player of the season, Chet, and vote him out. The fact that Chet is still in the game is entirely Joel's fault. He had the chance to vote him out last episode but chose to vote Mikey B. instead. So his desicion to keep Chet came back to kick him in the ass.

The Job Hunt Continues

I have recently been searching for a new job. I started about 3 months ago. Since then I have been turned down 10 times. And even worse 3 times by the company I already work for. And one of those 3 I lost to a fellow employee that only applied for the position after he found out that I had. (Now that is low.) It's actually starting to get to me. It's frustrating because I have a college degree in Hospitality Management. But no one has taken that into account. They all want more experience. I'm starting to feel like I wasted 4 years of my life going to school for nothing. I personally know people who don't even have an associate degree that have higher level, better paying jobs than I do. And all because they spent more time working instead of going to school. I really want to get into meeting / event planning. And just because I have actually never officially by title done that job no one will consider me for it. And I wish I could just say in the interview or on my resume, Hello, I'm gay. Gays know how to host events. As my best friend Billy says, all I have to do is shake my hair and everything will be made fabulous. Why doesn't the rest of the world understand that?

Feelin' the love

So nothing brightens my day more than finding out my family planned a family vacation without ME. Apparently we discussed the possibility of going on said vacation about 5 months ago. But then the family decided to book their airline tickets without mentioning it to me. Not to mention that they booked them 3 months ago and nothing has been mentioned to me about it since. Oh yeah, I sure am feeling the family love today.

Ok, here we go. I now have a blog. I feel so modern. I was truly inspired by my friend Holli. Her blog has been an inspiration to me. Because of her I decided I should start my own blog. We'll see how it goes...
