About Me

My photo
Clayton here. Here is a little about me. My favorite color is orange. I wish everything in my life was orange. Including my car and phone. (R.I.P.) I love text messaging and don't really like talking on the phone. My favorite drink in the entire world is Dr. Pepper. I'm pretty sure God gave it to the world because he loves us. (Add a little coconut rum, it makes it even better. If that's even possible.) I work in Human Resources at a hotel in downtown SLC. I'm addicted to reality TV. Especially Survivor, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. I love Mr. Potato Head, as you can probably tell. What else... Oh yeah I'm gay and have an AMAZING husband, Paul. ILY!!

LAST DAY!!

I am so excited that today is my last day at the hotel!! (Like my excited jumping guy?) I am a little sad to be leaving behind some amazing friends that have truly earned a place in my heart. Holli, Jo, Brenda, and Alex you are all totally awesome and I thank you for making driving all the way down here worth it. I am excited to start a new phase in my life. Now don't get me wrong, I am scared as well. I have gotten very comfortable with my position at the hotel. I have kind of become the go to person when someone needs help. And I like being able to help. Now I'm going to be the low man on the totem-pole and I will be asking for help. But I know this will be a good move for me. (It had better be after being turned down so many times.) Stay tuned for a new picture of where I work.

Too late for a countdown?

So originally when I accepted the new job I decided my last day at the hotel would be Friday May 30. But I got an email from the CVB and they want me to participate in a big activity they are having on Friday so now my last day is tomorrow!! I am very excited and very nervous about starting a new job.

Does this make me a nerd?

So over the weekend Paul and I didn't really have much to do. So we busted out the GameCube and thought we'd try out a game we had purchased about a month ago (Tak, The Great JuJu Challenge). Yes it is more designed for smaller children than 2 adult men but it is a simultaneous 2 player game that we thought we could enjoy together. (awe cute) Well we finally beat the game late Sunday night. We had to replay a few levels to try and get a better time, but we finally did it. We decided to resell the game to FYE, where we bought it used originally, and buy a new game we could play together. We found Tak 2, apparently we had purchased Tak 3 and weren't aware that others existed, and we found Teen Titans. We decided to purchase Teen Titans and experience a different character for a while. Yes both games are designed for children but we don't care. We aren't real serious gamers or anything. After all we only own a GameCube and aren't too concerned about upgrading anytime soon. So we started playing Teen Titans a little after 6 last night. And by 12:oo we had beaten the game. Yeah that's right. It only took us 6 hours to beat a game designed for children. Does that make us nerds?

It's about DAMN time!!

It finally happened!! I found a new job. After being turned down 22 times I was finally accepted at the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau. My last day at the Hampton Inn & Suites will be May 30, 2008 and I will start the following Monday June 2 at the CVB. I am very excited!! My new position is Sales Administrative Assistant. I will work under 3 Sales Managers as their office assistant. I am excited to learn more about the ins and out of a CVB and to be able to work closer to home. I am however very sad to be leaving my friends at the Hampton Inn. Don't get me wrong some of those people I will not miss, but there definitely are some that are truly good people that have earned a place in my heart. (If you work with me and you are reading this, that means you.)

SERIOUSLY!?!?

I'm about to vote myself out of my own family. They decided to go on vacation again to see my siblings in Arizona and I was informed but in no way was I invited. I'm not sure what caused this sudden urge to exclude me from family outings but I'm kinda getting sick of it. And if you ask my family they'll just think I'm being "overly sensitive." But how would you feel to get excluded?

SLAP!!

So I recently applied and interviewed for a new position at the same hotel that I'm currently working at. I honestly don't expect to get the position mostly because I'm the most qualified and my boss seems to like to pick the "under-dog" and give them a chance. But nothing feels more like a slap in the face than sitting at your desk and listening to other managers calling people who haven't even expressed any interest in the new position and asking them if they might be interested in coming in for an interview. It feels like I just got BITCH SLAPPED by my own company. Good thing I'm still looking for a new job.

Rockin the Full Figure

America's Next Top Model had its finale from cycle 10 this week. They crowned Whitney the first full figured model to win the competition. I think she is beautiful and has a lot of potential to change some views on what size is fashionable. Best of luck to Whitney for the future.

American Gladiators

I love American Gladiators!! I remember watching it as a kid with my brother and cheering on the contestants as they competed in challenges. Paul and I watched all last season and loved every minute of it. The 2 winners, 1 guy and 1 girl, were both added to the roster of gladiators and are now part of the new season that kicked off last night. Here are the pictures of the winners from last season as they appear now as gladiators. His name is really Evan but his gladiator name is Rocket. Personally I think he is gorgeous. Her name is really Monica but her gladiator name is Jet. I love her blue boots. They both did pretty good last night during their first show as gladiators. Good luck to them.

Brothers & Sisters

If you don't already watch this show you need to start. It is awesome!! It makes me laugh and almost makes me cry every week. I really love it. Last night on the season 2 finale Kevin, one of the brothers, and his boyfriend, Scotty, got married. It was so cute!! Someday I hope to have a beautiful wedding too.

And the winner is...

So for anyone who may not know, Parvati Shallow won this season of Survivor. She was on the Favorites team after playing her first season in the Cook Islands. Her strong alliance with Amanda and Cirie got her through to the final 3. All 3 women were counting on the game ending with a final 3 like it has for the last several seasons. They were all shocked to discover that the game was going to come down to a final 2. Parvati was the 1st one eliminated from the final endurance immunity challenge leaving Cirie and Amanda to battle it out. Both women performed amazingly until final Cirie was elimiated. Leaving a tough decision resting on the shoulders of Amanda. She had to choose who to take with her to the final two. After some tears and deliberation she finally decided to take Parvati over Cirie. (I was totally bummed because I love Cirie and I think Parvati is a bitch. By the way her last name is very fitting for her.) So when it came down to Amanda or Parvati I was on the side of Amanda. But alas Amanda ending up loosing in back to back seasons of Survivor (HaHa) and Parvati walked away with a million bucks.

What should one say...

What should a person say if they are on the phone with someone and the conversation just kind of dies out? You know you've all been in this situation. You're talking and then suddenly the conversation is just kind of dead and now you're just holding the phone up to your hear, listening to the other person breathing. So what's the nicest possible way to end the phone call? Recently I used, "Ok well I guess we should hang up since we're not talking any more." Yeah that didn't go over well. So help me out friends. What should I have said instead?

Alright already!!

So it has been brought to my attention that my blog is out of date and I need to be more on top of posting regularly. In my defense I did just spend a week in California and couldn't interrupt my time with Mickey and Minnie to post on my blog. But I promise I will get back into the habit of posting again.

So I'll start by talking about California. It was totally FUN!! It all started Saturday April 26, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. (ish, we were a little late getting started). Paul and I picked up Kylie and got our first glimpse at our suitcase loading challenge. See we took Paul's PT Cruiser that has a big speaker in the back. More to come on this. Then we hustled to Orem to pick up Karri and her 6 bags of homebaked (from frozen Otis Spunkmeyer dough) chocolate chip cookies. Now the challenge was to get all our luggage into the car. We finally figured out that we could put Kylie's suitcase on top of the speaker, Karri's would fit in front as long as we held it up a little while we closed the back and then shove it down into place and mine fit on top of Karri's once we removed the head rest and shoved it in from the back seat. All in all it worked out fine. We stopped in St. George to have lunch with our friend Kyle. And arrived at our hotel around 7:00 p.m. California time. After checking in we walked to a near by restaurant that was kind of like a Chili's in that they had lots of variety. Then we hung out in the pool for a little while before heading to bed.

Sunday was a long day of running around Disneyland riding rides, taking pictures and eating at our favorite places. (Pasta from the Pizza Port is so yummy!!) We camped out for about an hour waiting for the fireworks. Totally worth it for Paul to see Tinkerbell fly. Then we wandered over and watch the 2nd showing of Fantasmic. The best part of that was listening to the announcer guy say "Fantasmic" in Spanish. Totally hilarious!! We finally called it quits around 11:30 and started wandering out of the park but not before stopping at a few stores to buy some gifts and souvenirs.

Monday we started with the plan to get in line for the new Finding Nemo ride before the line got too long. Kylie really wanted to make sure that we rode Splash Mountain so she and Paul went to get fastpasses while Karri and I got in line for Finding Nemo but they weren't giving out fastpasses. We did eventually make it over to Splash Mountain and got SOAKED!! I'm pretty sure that there were people hiding in the dark throwing buckets of water on people as the came down the big hill. We also got lucky enough to win special "Year of a Million Dreams" passes that allowed us to stay in the park an extra hour after it closed. We finally made it over to California Adventures and got to introduce Paul to all the cool rides. We took him on Tower of Terror and I thought about warning him about what was going to happen before but then I decided it would be way more fun to just let him experience it for himself and enjoy his reaction. And enjoy his reaction we did. He FREAKED!! He screamed the whole time. It was AWESOME!! The best part of California Adventures was that Paul just kept saying this is awesome. He was really impressed with the whole park. We headed back over to Disneyland so we could enjoy our extra hour in the park. We were told to meet back at the Big Thunder Ranch and were escorted back into the Festival Arena. I had been to the Festival Arena before during my Sophomore year of high school while on choir tour. We competed in a singing competition in Anaheim and even got to perform at Disneyland. The awards ceremony was hosted at the Festival Arean so it was cool to relive some memories from the past and to see Karri's, Kylie's and Paul's reaction to the huge hidden arena. They kept us in the arena for about half an hour before letting us loose on the park. We got to ride 4 rides in an hour if I remember right. We hit Dumbo, Storybook Land, Peter Pan, and Matterhorn.

Tuesday we spent the first part of the day in California Adventure's. Early on in the day Karri spotted the Dream Sqaud handing out Magical fastpasses. We were excited to win again. We only had to redeem one fastpass tab for California Screamin'. The line was crazy long and we wanted to make sure Paul got to ride it. Then later that day we were enjoying taking pictures with our PhotoPass and a really crazy photographer. Right after we finished taking pictures Karri spotted the Dream Squad again and this time they were handing out Dream Ears!! We all hurried over and were delighted to have won a 3rd time!! Karri is the best Dream Squad spotter ever!!

I think the best part of our time at Disneyland was getting Paul involved in pin trading. Karri, Kylie and I are all totally obsessed already. This year Karri came prepared with pins she had purchased on Ebay for like a buck a piece. I think she had like 30 or something. She was extremely nice and let all of us trade her pins away if we found something we liked. I actually think she traded the fewest for herself. But we did finally completed a set for her of the princesses in jewels. They are really pretty and I'm glad we found all six. It came down to trading in the last hour to find the last one but we did it.

Wednesday we drove up to Valencia and visited Six Flags Magic Mountain. It was so cool!! Kylie and I had never been there before and we were totally excited to get on some BIG rollercoasters. Paul and Karri were excellent tour guides. The craziest part of the day was the fact that there were no lines. We just walked right on to some rides. And a couple of times we didn't even have to leave the loading platform before we boarded the next car. It was awesome!! I almost died early on in the day. We had just ridden a ride called Scream. And there was no line so we got off and got right back on. I was all locked in when all of a sudden my shoulder harness releases. I kinda start freaking out mildly trying to get the attention of one of the ride operators and no one responded. Then all of a sudden we start moving. My shoulder restraint still isn't locked so now I really start freaking out. Oh and did I mention that Paul and Kylie are totally laughing the whole time. I'm almost in tears at this point. As we start climbing the big first hill I realize that it finally locked and I'm not going to play the starring role in my own version of Final Destination 3. Don't worry that I had a nightmare about this for the next 2 nights. Kylie and I found out that we aren't cut out for so many big time rollercoasters all jammed in together. I truly enjoyed being flipped all over on the rides but by the end of the day I was ready to hurl. And I think Kylie was worse than I was. I even bought her a t-shirt that says, "Putting the ILL in thrill rides." It's pretty awesome.

So in a large nutshell that was our trip. Hopefully the length of this post will hold my readers over until I post again. After all size does matter.
